The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) exam to recruit for Group B & C posts in various central government ministries and departments.

Eligibility:

• Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university.

• Age: 18–32 years (varies by post).

• Fee: ₹100 (exemptions for women, SC/ST, PwD, Ex-Servicemen).

Exam Structure:
SSC CGL is held in four tiers:

1. Tier I – Preliminary (Objective)

   • Subjects: General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, English Comprehension.

   • 100 questions | 200 marks | 60 mins | -0.5 negative marking.

2. Tier II – Mains (Objective)

   • Papers: Quantitative Abilities, English Language & Comprehension, Statistics, General Studies (Finance & Economics).

   • Paper 1 & 2 compulsory; Paper 3 & 4 for specific posts.

   • Duration: 2 hours per paper | Negative marking applies.

3. Tier III – Descriptive

   • Pen-and-paper test in English/Hindi (essay, letter, precis).

4. Tier IV – Skill/Proficiency Test

   • DEST for Tax Assistant posts.

   • CPT for posts requiring MS Office skills.

Mode: Tiers I & II are computer-based; Tier III is offline.

• Subject of Nepal and Bhutan
• A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1/1/1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India.
• A person of Indian origin

Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (b), (c) or (d) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Indian government.

* For the post of Statistical Investigator Grade - II: Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized University with: At least 60% in Mathematics at 12th Standard level OR Statistics as one of the subjects at degree level.
